Design Options Report for 2no. Pedestrian / Cyclist Bridges over the River Barrow in Graiguenamanagh / Tinnahinch

Kilkenny Leader Partnership (hereafter KLP) has identified the need to engage the services of an Engineer Led Design Team to advance a design options report for the provision of two pedestrian/cyclist bridges over the River Barrow. This is to provide enhanced connectivity between the urban settlements of Graiguenamanagh on the west and Tinnahinch on the eastern side of the river. There is also a requirement to assess the option of installing traffic signals on the existing bridge and how it would affect the existing traffic regime of the Main Street and adjoining streets. The scope of the brief also stipulates the requirement of fulfilling the role PSDP along with the procurement of specialist services and all other services as prescribed to advance the Scheme. Location The settlement of Graiguenamanagh-Tinnahinch, (hereafter the town), is situated in a high-quality natural environment on the River Barrow in the steep sided valley between Brandon Hill in County Kilkenny and Mount Leinster in County Carlow, located within the functional areas of Kilkenny and Carlow County Council. It is a rich cultural town located 16km from Thomastown, 33km from Kilkenny City, 40km from Carlow, 19km from New Ross and 41km from Waterford City. The town also occupies a bridging point at George Semple Bridge, where the River Duiske enters the River Barrow, which divides Tinnahinch from Graiguenamanagh, and which is a superb amenity for boating, fishing and recreational pursuits.
