Tender description
Louth County Council seeks quotations for the supply, delivery, installation and complete commissioning of a fully comprehensive solution for the operation of a self-service library installation My Open Library in Drogheda Library. The next development of library automation within Louth Library Service is to extend the My Open Library service to Drogheda Library. This will offer extended opening hours to library members on a self-service basis outside normal opening hours, seven days a week, from 8am to 10pm, 365 days a year. The full range of services that are available during staffed hours including book borrowing, study spaces and ICT facilities will be available during My Open Library hours. Library users will have access to the library at times that suit them best strengthening the library as a focal point for community engagement. Although Louth is the smallest county in Ireland, it is home to two of the largest urban towns, Dundalk and Drogheda. This results in a significant and diverse range of economic, social and cultural strengths and opportunities. Key developments in recent years include the refurbishment and re-development of Drogheda Library in 2013/14; a full upgrade of Ardee Library in 2016 culminating in the launch of a My Open Library Service in 2019; and the upgrade of spaces and resources in Dundalk Library in 2019. All three full-time libraries have self-service technology. Drogheda Library is located at Stockwell Lane in Drogheda. The library currently offers 41 hours opening over 5 days with 2 late night openings until 8.pm. Drogheda library is located in the heart of the town on the ground floor of a building that houses Droichead Arts Centre. The entrance to the library is adjacent to the Arts centre entrance and fronts onto Stockwell Lane.
