Tender description

A processing agreement is to be entered into in respect of the collection of biogas produced from slurry lagoons at six small (150 head of cattle) Council owned dairy farms across the county of Cornwall. The economic operator will carry out the upgrading/processing of the biogas to liquid biomethane using its own technology with the subsequent sale to Corserv Ltd. The processing agreement is being entered into by Cornwall Council for the purpose of the collection, processing and storage of biomethane on six Council owned dairy farms to create liquid biomethane to be delivered and sold to Corserv Ltd (a wholly owned company of Cornwall Council). This project is part of Cornwall Council's response to the climate change emergency declared by Cornwall Council in January 2019, Corserv Ltd’s commitment to an ultra-low emission vehicle fleet by 2030 and Cornwall Council's stated priority to invest in renewable energy technologies for a Green and Prosperous Cornwall. As well as the environmental aspects there are clear economic, regeneration and job creation benefits as well as Cornwall being able to support the agri-food sector in the County.
