Tender description

Public Health England (PHE) intends to award a contract for the provision of a replacement electronic control system for their Beta Secondary Standard (BSS-2) ionising irradiation facility to High Technology Sources Ltd (HTSL). The existing BSS-2 control system, which is intrinsically part of, and incorporated into, the existing BSS-2 irradiation facility, was designed and manufactured by the German National Metrology Institute (PTB) and now needs to be replaced to ensure continued operational capability. This replacement will significantly improve the resilience and efficiency of the testing processed by these facilities. PTB, in conjunction with Eckert and Ziegler (E&Z), the OEM, have now developed a direct replacement control system, which is available via their UK agent High Technology Sources ltd (HTSL). PHE believes that HTSL, as E&Z’s exclusive UK distributor, are the sole supplier of the required bespoke BSS-2 electronic control system.
