Development Services Agreement with respect to The Hendra-Nansledan Overbridge Scheme

Tender description

The Newquay Strategic Route project (NSR) serves the Nansledan urban extension and provides a link from the A392 to Trevenson Road and Quintrell Road, creating an alternative route to the A3058 and A3059 and alleviating congestion. As part of this larger route, a bridge is required over the Newquay-Par branch line and it is proposed that this will be procured through Network Rail. It is anticipated that the provision of such a bridge will potentially support the strategic objective of The Cornwall Council (the Customer) and Network Rail for future closure of two existing adjacent level crossings over the branch line. (Trencreek and Chapel level crossings). Planning approval has been granted for the NSR project under Application Number PA13/02307. General arrangement plans which relate to the railway bridge were included in the application. These are drawing no’s 3512585A/0101C and S3644/PR/001B. The works form part of a larger contract with the road leading to the bridge to be constructed by a second contractor. Throughout the design and subsequent construction phases close liaison will be required with this contractor in order to co-ordinate programme, access and interface issues. Additionally, the approved planning consent is for the proposed rail bridge to be finished with granite cladding. It is a requirement of the works that this granite is sourced locally, preferably De Lanc Quarry, Bodmin, Cornwall. To ensure this, The Customer are to procure the granite on behalf of Network Rail.
