Engaging with Welsh Diaspora

Provision of a digital platform to engage with the Welsh diaspora. As part of the International Strategy, the Welsh Government wishes to engage with the Welsh diaspora and has committed to making 500,000 diaspora connections by 2025. By engaging with diaspora the Welsh Government wishes to support the strategic goals of: - Increasing Wales’s worldwide profile; - Growing the Welsh economy. - Establishing Wales as a globally responsible nation We wish to secure the support of a contractor to: - Map out the Welsh diaspora overseas: who they are and where they are. - Promote the Welsh Government’s key messages amongst diaspora and provide feedback on which messages resonate. - Identify any particularly influential members of the diaspora community. - Ensure (and be able to measure) that there is economic benefit to Wales from connecting with diaspora e.g. through tourism, investment, donations etc. - Harness, coordinate and promote the work of existing Welsh diaspora networks. - Work with Welsh organisations identified by the Welsh Government to promote their work abroad. We anticipate the contractor will use a digital platform to deliver this work. Possible solutions include: 1. We engage with a contractor who specialises in diaspora engagement and owns and runs their own platform. They would use their existing platform and their expertise to engage with the Welsh diaspora and coordinate the work of existing Welsh diaspora organisations; or 2. The successful contractor builds, and subsequently manages, a bespoke platform which has the functionality to engage with the Welsh diaspora and coordinate the work of the existing diaspora organisation in Wales.
