Calderdale CCG: GP Support - Covid Positive Beds

This is a market interest test. This service is aligned with the Calderdale plans to continue meeting the Covid-19 national requirements for the Hospital Discharge Service over the winter period 2020-21 and the Calderdale Care Home Support Plan. A key part of the plan is ensuring we have a Hospital Discharge Covid-19 Pathway which provides a safe alternative for the discharge of Covid positive patients where they may be cared for and complete their isolation period prior to return to their normal place of residence. It is not feasible to discharge Covid positive patients back to their normal place of residence including care homes for risk of the infection spreading. The CCG have therefore decided to commission a separate, additional bed capacity to support this cohort enabling:  rapid discharge of Covid positive patients who are medically fit for discharge from hospital and reducing the number of delayed transfers of care (supporting the local winter plans)  bed capacity within the Calderdale system for Covid positive patients to mitigate o any second wave and/or; o a peak as we enter the winter period This service is for the provision of in-hours primary medical services for Covid positive enhanced care beds, similar to intermediate care beds commissioned in Calderdale, with the exception of the intervention lasting until the resident is Covid negative (approx. 7-14 days) and able to safely transition to their existing or new care home.
