This grant funding opportunity has been developed following the success of the Zoo Support Fund which has supported zoos in maintaining animal welfare during the Covid-19 outbreak. This extended grant opportunity recognises the need for longer term financial support for zoos and seeks to support zoos until the end of June 2021. The grant funding is not unlimited, and applications will be assessed by the Authority strictly on a first come first served basis. Failure to submit your application as required by this ITA may result in the assessment of your application being delayed and other compliant submitted bids being assessed ahead of yours. We may not be able to provide funding to all applicants. This Zoo Animals Fund aims are; - Supporting zoos and offering them the best opportunity to be in a stable financial situation for the 2021 season. This includes financial support for animal care and essential maintenance costs until 30 June 2021. - If zoos are unable to care for or rehome their animals, some may have to resort to unplanned euthanasia of their animals. This fund can help to prevent zoos from having to take the decision to rehome or euthanize animals during the Covid-19 crisis when few options are open to them. - Enabling them to make long term decisions over their animals in a more measured way once the crisis has passed, and relaxation of social distancing rules has allowed zoos to welcome more paying guests, secure a more stable income stream and open up more rehoming opportunities across the sector. This fund is not intended to ensure the future of every zoo.
