Tender description

Simulated patients for medical role play for student training. SP’s are involved during each year of medical training, although their input is concentrated in the pre-clinical years 1 and 2. They work alongside core members of staff in helping medical and physician associate students develop and practice their communication and consultation skills in supportive and safe environments. During the pre-clinical years of medical training (1 and 2), students’ exposure to real life clinical scenarios is deliberately limited. This strategy allows training of students to specified standards prior to their exposure to subsequent, real-life, clinical scenarios in the clinical years (3, 4 and 5). The use of SP’s is part of the established preparation process and part of the strategy to ensure students have reached required minimum standards at each stage of training.
