The purpose of this request for information (RFI) is for the market to provide information only. This process of engagement is not a pre-qualification, tender nor a guarantee of any future tender opportunities. This process also does not guarantee any agreements, contracts or delivery of the required goods, works or services. Summary of requirement 1.1.1) To help deliver the next phase of its smart infrastructure initiative, SSE Telecoms (SSET) is seeking to engage with the supply chain to understand the potential of designing and developing a cable connection system suitable for use in introducing a fibre optical cable into live potable water mains in the UK. The purpose of this request for information (RFI) is for the market to provide information only. Summary of requirement 1.1.1) To help deliver the next phase of its smart infrastructure initiative, SSE Telecoms (SSET) is seeking to engage with the supply chain to understand the potential of designing and developing a cable connection system suitable for use in introducing a fibre optical cable into live potable water mains in the UK. 1.1.2) Technologies must currently have, or ultimately must be capable of securing, Regulation 31 approval (Regulation 33 in Scotland) of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016 (as amended) for use in public water supplies 1.1.3) Respondents to this RFI are asked to note that SSET is currently working at pace with appointed statutory water and sewerage undertakers (WaSCs) with aim of having a market ready solution within 12 months. Should this process of initial engagement progress to a tender opportunity, potential suppliers must be capable of delivering to very strict deadlines.
