Tender description
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council have secured £4.7m EU funding for the PEACE IV Local Authority Action Plan - Beyond Tolerance. As lead partner, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council will be responsible for the delivery of the PEACE IV action plan, which will promote peace and reconciliation in the local area focusing on three key themes: “Children and Young People”, “Shared Spaces and Services” and “Building Positive Relations”. As part of their responsibility under the “Beyond Tolerance” Action Plan, the Council is seeking to appoint a competent supplier to design, develop and deliver a comprehensive ethnic minority cultural and integration programme across the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area. Building Positive Relations Specific Objective 3.8 involves support for BME engagement mechanisms in Newry, Mourne & Down District Council area. The Newry Mourne & Down Intercultural Forum is an interagency partnership committed to working together towards an inclusive community to create opportunities that embrace diversity and is being supported by PEACE IV as a now established BME engagement mechanism. AIMS of the FORUM: 1. Adopt a strategic approach to identify real needs of BME communities. 2. Maximise resources and opportunities to promote equity, diversity and interdependence. 3. Develop communication channels to encourage people to live, learn, work and play together. 4. Embrace a partnership approach encompassing all sectors of the community to create a shared future for all residents of Newry, Mourne and Down through positive action. The Council is seeking to appoint a competent supplier to develop the Forum’s strategy and action plan “A Call to Action” April 2018 (Appendix 1 within the available documentation package), develop; 1, Stakeholder Communications strategy and activities (Action Plan, 3.1) 2, Partnership Strategy and activities (Action Plan, 4.1, 4.1, 4.3, 4.4)
