Research Project to Develop a Migrant Integration Strategy for Cavan

The aim of this research project is to provide an evidence-based informed strategy that will support greater integration and sense of belonging for migrant communities in Co Cavan. Cavan County Council and Cavan County Local Development Company recognise the increasing diversity within its communities and the need to identify and overcome any barriers to inclusion faced by new communities. This strategy will support migrant integration at a local level by promoting better social integration of migrants in the county as well as ensuring community services are catering for the increasingly diverse population and contributing to making the county a place in which all those who live and work are valued. This project will help identify measures to mitigate the challenges encountered as a result of greater cultural and ethnic diversity. The strategy will provide a structured framework to effectively support migrant communities and to facilitate social cohesion. As a local integration strategy it will be aligned with national integration policies to ensure that measures are mainstreamed in the work of all Government Departments and agencies, other public bodies and organisations.
