Tender description

The London Borough of Waltham Forest is seeking soft market testing information for the provision of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) outreach services within the borough. The aim of the service is to work with schools in the borough to ensure the successful inclusion of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, enabling pupils to remain in mainstream settings where appropriate and to progress. Responses should be uploaded by 9 a.m. Monday 3 August 2020 via the messaging function. Special educational needs and disabilities outreach service. Provision to deliver a wider range of support, advice and training opportunities for schools and settings to enable them to deliver high quality support for individual children and to ensure that the people who work with them understand and meet their individual needs. The aim of the service is to work with schools in the borough to ensure the successful inclusion of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, enabling pupils to remain in mainstream settings where appropriate and to progress. The service should support teachers and SENCos providing information and advice, and training. The service should support pupils with visual impairment and mobility needs; hearing impairment; autism, learning and cognitive disabilities. The provision should utilise different forms of support and engagement including digital resources, group training sessions and forums, and direct work/outreach. This support should help schools and staff to design and deliver interventions, strategies and training that they need to undertake to support a child. Examples may include: • support, challenge and empower schools to improve their inclusive practice; • provide information, advice and training regarding a range of available interventions and strategies to support children with SEND; • challenge schools to ensure that they are taking responsibility for offering appropriate provision for children with SEND; • provide information, advice and training regarding flexible ways of helping children with SEND to access mainstream classes and differentiating lessons for children with a range of needs; • suggest tailored interventions, where appropriate, for children with SEND; • empower schools to understand the context and triggers for behavioural issues in children with SEND at an early stage, sharing information to understand potential triggers and making relevant changes that could reduce this behaviour in the future.
