Tender description
There are 10 local offices and 5 regions of the National Forest Estate managed by FLS. As part of facilitating our requirements for timber sales and updating of the Subcompartment data base (herein known as SCDB), FLS requires putting in place a framework for the provision of mensuration, establishment and other surveys are required to inform management decisions and to ensure we are meeting internal and external standards of establishment and stand management. In order to achieve this we are issuing this tender to award a framework which will cover the entire forest estate within Scotland and provide a number of survey types. Data collection, using similar techniques to production surveys, used to inform our subcompartment database as to the species composition and stocking density and various other attributes. Data collection gathered to inform how much timber is available or will be extracted from the site. Data collection gathered to inform how much timber is available or will be extracted from the site. Drone surveys and related work — most of the work will be a wind blow event, or a fence line needs inspected, or aerial photography is needed for mapping. There will be working in a forest environment and there may be a requirement for specialist equipment — e.g. detecting fire risks using IR.
