Tender description

Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) is an associated office of the Department of Justice and Equality. The people working at FSI are mainly trained scientists and analysts supported by administration staff and number close to one hundred and fifty staff. We work together to deliver to best international standards, independent expert opinion, advice, training and research to support the Irish Criminal Justice system. Forensic investigations involve the examination of items recovered from crime scenes and various techniques are used to identify unknown materials and link suspects and victims or suspects and scenes. The Document and Handwriting Section from the Garda Technical Bureau merged into FSI in December 2019. The functions of this section include the examination of Identity documents for verification purposes, identifying printing methods and security features; handwriting and signature comparisons, ink comparisons, and the examination of documents for evidence of alterations.
