Tender description

A high level of pollution in Bath, caused by vehicle emissions, is harming the health of people living and working in the city. The government has directed Bath and North East Somerset Council (B&NES, the Council) along with 27 other local authorities to reduce levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in the air by 2021 at the latest and is providing the funds to achieve this objective. The Council’s preferred option to achieve these improvements is a Class C Charging Clean Air Zone (CAZ). This will see charges imposed for all higher emission vehicles, except private cars, driving in the centre of Bath from late 2020. As part of the CAZ implementation, the Council has announced plans to provide support for those businesses and individuals likely to be charged. One of the key parts of that support package is the Financial Assistance Scheme (the Scheme). The Council invites asset and motor finance companies to tender for the administration of the Scheme.
