Design, coordination, management and delivery of the formal training of charity trustees on the Charities Governance Code at locations around Ireland

Tender description

The Contracting Authority published the Charities Governance Code (hereinafter referred to as the “Code”) on 7 November 2018. The Code contains 6 principles: advancing charitable purpose; behaving with integrity; leading people; exercising control; working effectively; and being accountable and transparent. These 6 principles build upon the charity trustee legal duties and responsibilities. The Code contains 32 core standards which all registered charities are expected to meet. The Code also contains 17 additional standards which more complex charities are expected to meet. In 2020 charities will be expected to apply the principles of the Code and complete the Charities Governance Code Compliance Record Form in order to evidence their compliance with each principle within the Code. Charities will be expected to retain their Compliance Record Forms and in 2021 report on their compliance to the Contracting Authority as part of their Annual Report. This process will then be repeated each year. As part of the rollout of the Code, the Contracting Authority is committed to providing formal training to charity trustees to support them in applying the principles and meeting the 32 core standards contained in the Code. The Contracting Authority is seeking to procure the services of a competent service provider to design, coordinate, manage and deliver the formal training of charity trustees on the Code at locations around Ireland in 2020. The training will be approved by the Contracting Authority prior to rollout.
