Consultancy Services Mayo County Council, Glenisland Bridge Design.

Tender description

Mayo County Council now wishes to procure Structural Consultancy Services for the delivery of the bridge to span the Glenisland River as part of the design the successful consultant will procure and manage the ground investigation contractor (The cost of all associated works for the ground investigation will form part, and will be included in this tender). Design and seek approval for a Section Application to the OPW. The successful consultant will procure and administer all advance works for the bridge design and vehicle restraint on bridge (Parapet), and prepare and access Tender Documents and administrate the Main Bridge Construction Contractor while on site (any site supervisory staff will be provided by Mayo County Council). The successful Consultant shall accept the role of PSDP for the bridge design. These services will be acquired through an invitation to tender published on the etenders website. The services required are outlined in these Service Requirements. The bridge works can only take place between July 1st and September 30th as per Inland Fisheries Guidance. The bridge must be designed and a Bridge Construction Contractor be nominated and ready to start on site by 1st July 2020. As mentioned above the proposed bridge is 19m long (measured along the centreline), 13m wide (measured across the road), and 3m deep from the soffit of the precast beams to the top of the concrete bases. The abutment/wing wall bases measure 13m wide x 6.5m long. A preliminary design drawing attached to this tender has been prepared. This prelim design formed part of the ecological assessment which was approved by An Bord Pleanala in 2019 (Reports form part of the appendices). The bridge has been designed as not to interfere with the river in any way during construction. The abutments are constructed in the dry, on the river bank a safe distance from the edge of the river, the assumption has been made that a piled structure will be necessary. The outer face of the south side abutment wall is positioned 4.5m for the existing
