Tender description

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic Welsh Blood Service have direct awarded a 12 months contract with an option for additional 24 months to Scinomed under Regulation 32 (2) (c) of PCR 2015. At the time of award Scinomed were the only economic operator that were able to deliver the required requirement within the technical and time constraints imposed by the extreme urgency. Treatment of convalescent plasma from Covid-19 patient has been identified as potential treatment for Covid-19 patients. The Welsh Blood Service are initiating a 12 month trial of this service in direct response to Covid-19 with an option for a further 12 - 24 months continuation of service and maintenance support. The Service undertook a market engagement with the current and known supplier in the market and identified that only line economic operator was able to deliver the required suppliers within the technical and time constraints imposed by the extreme urgency. Please note that this is a 12 months trial to support the future direction of Covid-19 patient treatment.
