Tender description

The contracting authority seeks notes of interest for a potential procurement exercise for the below requirement: The Advanced Forming Research Centre at the University of Strathclyde is seeking to purchase two off Inconel718 blocks for the manufacture of a set of upsetting dies. The required material size and quantities are: two off approx. 850 mm x 710 mm x 210 mm, which will allow us to machine the parts to 840 mm x 700 mm x 200 mm. The material must be in the forging and heat treated condition. Preferably solution annealed (927-982 ºC) plus precipitation hardening (720 ºC and 620 ºC both for 16 hours). The required Grain size of the material has to be in the ASTM range 6-8 and with a minimum reduction ratio of 4:1. The final material has to be inspected with Ultrasonic testing. There must be no presence of cracks and surface defects. A material property certificate including the mechanical properties (i.e. tensile strength and hardness) and chemical analysis as well as an inspection certificate must be provided. The offer has to include the delivery of the material to the AFRC in Inchinnan (Scotland).
