Tender description

Negotiated procedure without prior publication for the purchase of a IncuCyte Microscope on behalf of the UK Dementia Research Institute, from Essen BioScience. The UK Dementia Research Institute (DRI), based at the University, require a microscopy system that allows groups to run long-term microscopy experiments in both fluorescence and brightfield whilst keeping cells undisturbed and housed in a tissue culture incubator. The IncuCyte microscopy system is the only one on the market which provides this. As per Regulation 6(1)(b)(ii) of the Procurement (Scotland) Regulations 2016, a contracting authority may award a contract without competition if competition is absent for technical reasons (only if it is not caused by artificial narrowing down of the parameters of the procurement and no reasonable alternative or substitute exists).
