Summary of the work As a data engineer you will be an integral member of the data team that drives development of new services. You will help create user-focused data solutions by analysing, preparing, transforming, loading, and maintaining data and systems with a strong focus on delivering fit-for-purpose services. Specialist role Data engineer Expected Contract Length 8 months Latest start date Monday 22 June 2020 Maximum Day Rate £475 excluding VAT and inclusive of all other costs Who Speclialist Work With Working within an Agile service design, delivery and support team of circa 30 people responsible for digital transformation activities across the organisation. It’s a multidisciplinary team with software developers, business analysts, data engineers, testers, designers, user researchers, Dynamics developers, service designers and product owners. The data engineer will work closely with the service design team with product owners and service designers to implement new data and analytics processes to support the delivery of services to our users. What Specialists Work On The specialist will support the implementation of SE’s digital transformation. This service design team are looking specifically at the systems and processes involved in managing financial transactions with businesses who have successfully applied for business support. The review of these services will require hands on business analysis as well as working within an agile delivery team with varied tasks involved day to day. Skills & Experience • UML or other methodologies • Data flow diagramming • Power BI and Power Query • Azure Synapse (Kimball method) • Azure SQL Database • Azure Data Factory • Azure Data Bricks • Integration Services • PowerShell, C#, R, Python, TSQL, • Entity Relation Modelling (Logical and physical) • Azure Data Catalogue Nice to Haves • Power Platform • Common Data Store • Waterfall and Agile based techniques • Project life cycle management, from inception, business case, project initiation, through to implementation, governance, and controls • Managing Success Programmes and Scrum expertise applied to data driven projects is desired • Translate requirements from business to technical (UML or other methodology) • Business information modelling • Data analysis techniques • Conceptualise and describe/design data flow • Software development life cycle Work Location The supplier is expected to supply a resource to work as part of the team. A core team is based in Glasgow city centre and work standard working hours of 9-5 Mon-Fri. It is expected that the resource would be available for physical meetings and coworking at times but remote working is available. As we have reached the end of our duration contract with the incumbent supplier we are bound by our own procurement policy to conduct a new competitive procurement process. 4. How do you require 'PowerShell, C#, R, Python, TSQL' responses to be answered within the limit, what are you looking for here? Candidates should match the skills required and demonstrate that they can deliver the requirements. 5. Is there flexibility on the start date? For example, would 1st July be acceptable? Yes there is some flexibility on the start date.
