Tender description
Brunel University London (Brunel) invites tenders from suitably qualified and experienced supplier(s) in relation to entering into a legal services framework agreement (the Contract) to provide professional legal services (the Services) to Brunel as outlined in the lots below: Lot 1: Commercial services, Lot 2: Property and estates, Lot 3: Human resources, Lot 4: Student matters, governance and regulatory. Brunel will appoint up to a maximum of three (3) suppliers in respect of each lot following approval of recommended contract award. Further details can found in the tender documents via the portal, www.brunelesourcing.com Advice from external counsel will most likely be sought on complex and/or time critical projects. This could include work on the following major contracts: 1) waste removal and cleaning services to commence September 2021; 2) supply of stock for retail to commence September 2021; 3) security service to commence September 2024 (assuming contract for legal services extended to cover this period); and 4) catering services to commence September 2024 (assuming contract for legal services extended to cover this period). This list is not exhaustive and the University is always looking for opportunities to achieve value for money or test markets. Other possible work could include advice and negotiation of purchasing agreements, advice in relation to banking agreements/covenants, updating template/precedent agreements and advice in relation to trans-national education and other academic collaboration agreements. Short-term commercial lettings for example to service providers like banks, GP practices, etc., science park tenants, construction and planning advice in relation to a new medical school, new student accommodation (subject to approval of Estates Strategy), refurbishment projects. Advice in relation to employment disputes, representing the University at Tribunal, settlement agreements, restructuring, tier 2 immigration (or any replacement system), advising on and drafting employment policies and procedures, reviewing and amending template documents (e.g. employment contracts). Advice on student complaints, appeals, exclusions, advice on safeguarding matters, tier 4 immigration (or any replacement system), advice on the student contract, student protection plan and student financial policy, advice on connected charities, charitable appeals, trustees’ duties.
