Evaluation of LEADER

Tender description

LEADER (a French acronym roughly translated as ‘links between actions for developing the rural economy’) is a form of Community-Led Local Development (CLLD). It funds a vast array of activities and small projects, ideally proposed and sometimes implemented by members of the local community, with the ultimate aim of creating balanced development in rural areas. Within Wales, each project addresses the issues in the local area, under one of the five Welsh LEADER themes: • Adding value to the local identity and/or natural and/or cultural resources • Facilitating pre-commercial development, business partnerships and short supply chains • Exploring new ways of providing non-statutory local services • Renewable energy at community level • Exploitation of digital technology The Welsh Government wishes to assess: • the implementation of LEADER in Wales in the current programming period • the contribution of LEADER to local development in rural areas since it has been applied in Wales
