The project involves the demolition and replacement of Clonbeg Bridge, Aherlow, Tipperary.

Tender description

The scope of the works consist of the following:·        Demolish the existing bridge and the two culverts to the west of it.  This work will include the removal of the four pairs of in-stream piers. ·        Construct a new 17m clear span integral bridge with reinforced concrete abutments and composite concrete deck (pre-cast beams with insitu topping). ·        The river banks, upstream and downstream of the bridge will be re-profiled to reflect the new structure. ·        To satisfy the Section 50 requirements of the OPW, the soffit level of the new bridge deck will be 77.2m ODM.  This results in a new road level on the bridge of 78.21m ODM, which is approximately 1.0m above the existing road level. ·        A 80m section of the approach road, on the east side of the bridge, which regularly floods at present, will be raised to a minimum level of 76.9m ODM, so that it is above the design flood level of 76.89m ODM.”
