Tender description
West Midlands Combined Authority (or WMCA) currently intends to construct two new fully accessible railway stations in the West Midlands area. The stations are located at Darlaston and Willenhall. To shape the procurement of the new stations, WMCA has decided to engage with contractors in order to better understand the market and the issues faced during the current climate. Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) and West Midlands Rail Executive (WMRE), the WMCA bodies responsible for specifying and delivering transport improvements, are seeking to introduce the two new stations between Wolverhampton and Walsall and to reintroduce passenger services along the existing Walsall to Wolverhampton (freight) line. These new train services will bring major investment and transport opportunities to the communities served, enhancing access to employment in key centres, thus supporting economic growth across the West Midlands. The scheme comprises unmanned stations, both of which include a fully accessible footbridge (with lifts or ramps, and stairs) providing access to both platforms. Parking facilities at Darlaston will have capacity for up to 300 cars and will be accessed via Cemetery Road. Parking facilities at Willenhall will have capacity for circa 50 cars and will be accessed via Bilston Street. WMCA are seeking views from Contractor's on the current base procurement scenario (further information can be found at https://wmca.bravosolution.co.uk) to inform the procurement strategy. Please note this is a market engagement exercise only and will not be formally evaluated. To access the opportunity please go to https://wmca.bravosolution.co.uk/ (current opportunities).
