Special Guardians

Tender description

Cornwall Council has a duty to provide a provision of a high quality and effective Special Guardian Service, this is a statutory duty under Adoption Regulations 2003 and the Adoption National Minimum Standards 2011 and the Family Justice Act 2015 form the basis of the regulatory framework under the Care Standards Act 2000. This contributes to the strategic priority of protecting children from significant harm, by supporting carers who are parenting vulnerable children and young people. The current provision is to provide support to educate children and families subject to Special Guardianship Orders and Child Arrangement Orders. The current provider supports over 400 + Special Guardians. This is carried out through mediation, 24-hour telephone advice line, contact resolution and counselling to deliver continuity of care, support, education, understanding, equality and independence for kinship carers.
