Tender description

Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology wishes to award a contract under the open procedure for project work involving the reconfiguration of the existing Electrical Apprentice Workshop (730) . The existing work shop is set up with 8 large metal framed structures (called Quads) and each quad has a rotating frame with a 1200mm x 2400mm sheet of plywood on each of the 4 sides upon which electrical boards and circuits boards are mounted to facilitate teaching. Each quad accommodates 2 students and are wired up on each end with 110V, 230V, 400V sockets as well as key switches and emergency stops etc. These quads are to be removed as part of this reconfiguration and replaced with 16No individual cubicles (1 per student). Each will have a similar set-up to the existing set-up on the quad. Further details below. There are also some minor modifications to another existing Workshop (Room 732 and 559) The area of works is located just off the service road (see Appendix 1 – Site Layout) and only has single door access. Contractors need to bear this in mind for moving materials in and out of the space. This will be a turnkey project which will be ready to move into upon completion. The main elements involved are as follows: • Electrical strip out • Dismantling and removal of existing Quads. • Formation of new metal framed cubicles • Electrical installation. • Mechanical alterations. • Decoration. • Floor finishes. • Fire-stopping • Installation of furniture (benching & shelving). • Cleaning Please refer to the ITT for further details.
