Following the outbreak of Covid-19 NHSBT, as a participating authority of the PHE Microbiology Framework (Ref: BSP 2415) has directly awarded a call-off contract to Euroimmun UK. This decision was made due to the clinical/scientific reasons detailed below and the unforeseen circumstances of national interest/public health impact requiring an emergency response. — the CE Marked Euroimmun ELISA-based IgG detection assay has been validated and approved for use at PHE, — there is a significant number of validation data points (3000+) which is the most data collected on any ELISA-based detection assay and therefore gives the authority greater knowledge on the performance of the assay, — Euroimmun is the only CE-marked assay where there are (300+) data points that show correlation between the Euroimmun and a neutralising antibody. This is a criteria for the NHSBT convalescent plasma clinical trial. Supply of assays.
