Counselling in Schools (TPC2011)

Tender description

Scottish Government announced funding in August 2019 for qualified counsellors to be delivering counselling in schools for pupils aged over 10. An initial phase of implementation has taken place and full implementation is scheduled for November 2020. Angus Council, Dundee City Council and Perth and Kinross Council agreed to proceeding with the procurement exercise on a Tayside wide basis, aligning with the development of a Tayside Mental Health strategy. Provision of Counselling Services in Schools: Scottish Government announced funding in August 2019 for qualified counsellors to be delivering counselling in schools for pupils aged over 10. Angus Council, Dundee City Council and Perth and Kinross Council agreed to proceeding on a Tayside wide basis, aligning with the development of a Tayside Mental Health strategy. The counselling support provided should conform to agreed professional standards, such as those provided by COCSA and BACP, and current best practice for school based counselling, specifically in respect of counsellors qualifications, supervision policy, child protection policies and continuous professional development and learning. Guidance should also be followed in relation to supervision - All counsellors are expected to have supervision in line with their professional body’s recommendations.
