Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS)

Tender description

The aim of the Service is to enable the Council to deliver its specific duty to provide independent information, advice and support to children, their parents and carers and young people with SEND as defined in Parts 19 and 32 of the Children and Families Act 2014. The provision of this service will enable the Council to fulfil its obligations in line with the SEND Code of Practice and the Minimum Standards for SEND information, Advice and Support Services. The SEND Code of Practice gives guidance to professionals in their work with children and young people who have SEN and / or disabilities and supports them in: • Taking into account the views of children, young people and families • Enabling children, young people and parents to participate in decision-making • Collaborating with partners in education, health and social care to provide support • Identifying children and young people’s needs • Making high quality provision to meet the needs of children and young people • Focusing on inclusive practice and removing barriers to learning • Helping children and young people to prepare for adulthood. This Service will also assist The Council in meeting Cornwall’s key strategic aims for children and young people with SEND which are to: • have high aspirations for all children and young people with SEND • ensure children and young people with SEND have positive outcomes and fulfil their potential • ensure that the attainment gap between those with SEND and their peers is narrowed • include the majority of children and young people in their local education settings.
