Replacement of Electrical Cabling at the NORA Mainland Tankfarm, Tarbert, Co. Kerry

Tender description

The Mainland Tankfarm was constructed in 1973 (approximately) and was used for the storage of heavy fuel oil (HFO) for the Tarbert Generating Station. The Generating Station is owned and operated by SSE and NORA holds a 20-year lease on the Mainland Tankfarm. Between 2009 and 2012, NORA refurbished the Tankfarm, and it entered service as a strategic storage facility for kerosene, gas oil and diesel in 2012. As part of the refurbishment works, the electrical systems, including the MV supply to the site and the LV distribution systems, were upgraded. The objective of the current works is to replace some of the electrical cabling at the Tankfarm, in particular the cabling for the fire detection systems on two of the storage tanks, and the cabling for part of the security system. The works include: new cables connecting to the control room interface panel new cables at the oil pumphouse new cables and manual call points at the truck loading yard and in the bund new cables and connections for the flame detection system new cables and connections for the linear heat detection system new cables and connections at the firewater tank / firewater pumphouse new cables and connections to the active infrared (AIR) sensors
