Who Speclialist Work With Primarily with members of the IT Service Creation teams in the DVLA. What Specialists Work On The specialist will be required to undertake development work on the DVLAs central vehicles management system (VSS). The work includes technical analysis, low level design, production and unit testing of code using CA GEN. The specialist will be allocated to specific projects (including, but not be limited to, changes to Vehicles Excise Duty (VED) schemes) and make technical changes in accordance with business requirements and technical solutions which will be provided by DVLAs business analysts and technical architects. Where the Work Takes Place The work will take place in DVLA offices in Swansea, however, in light of the current COVID-19 outbreak and in line with Government guidance in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, supplier resource allocated under this Call-Off Contract (once awarded) will initially work remotely. At the point where ‘working from home’ restrictions are lifted the supplier resource will be required to work onsite at the DVLAs Swansea offices. Please note: Supplier resource will initially be required to attend the DVLA site in Swansea, in order to collect the necessary equipment to begin working remotely. Early Market Engagement N/A Working Arrangements The nature of the work dictates the location. Access to the necessary tooling is only available onsite. Standard working week/hours to be managed by the Supplier as they see is appropriate. Security Clearance Must have current BPSS clearance as a minimum. All resource will be required to achieve three months residency in the UK in addition to BPSS prior to working with or on behalf of DVLA Additional T&Cs We currently see this role as sitting outside of IR35, as the candidates would not hold a fixed office position and will not have direct day to day direction or supervision. Skills & Experience Provide demonstratable evidence of development experience (minimum of 5 years) in CA GEN in a UNIX environment. Provide demonstratable evidence (minimum 2 year) of using SQL with an Oracle (or equivalent) database. Provide demonstratable evidence of experience (minimum of 2 years) of assisting business analysts or business representatives to formalise or clarify requirements. Provide demonstratable evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in the production of low level technical designs and documentation. Provide demonstratable evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in definition and execution of formal unit tests. Nice to Haves Provide demonstratable evidence of experience (minimum 1 year) of writing UNIX scripts (working knowledge of C and KORN shell scripting) Provide demonstratable evidence of experience (minimum of 1 years) of writing PL/SQL scripts on a UNIX platform. Provide demonstratable evidence (minimum of 1 year) of GEN development on an AIX (IBM) platform.
