Tender description
The aim of the project is to establish Ireland’s first typographic centre celebrating lettering as an art form capitalising on Kells unique history of lettering. It is proposed to conserve and showcase the Print Works in the Sawmills in Kells with the establishment of a working studio that will produce bespoke limited edition printed material and previously unavailable training opportunities and education programmes. The Project is exempt of a Part 8 Planning Application. The Sawmills Kells was subject to a RRDF (Rural Regeneration Development Fund) grant application in 2019. For this application a Preliminary Outline Design and Costings was completed. This document and any other supporting documentation, site surveys, condition surveys and drawings are included for information. As part of the project brief each Tenderer will be given the opportunity to carry out a site visit to the Sawmills property. Site visits will be carried out on the 15 of June 2020. The time of the site visits will be subject to agreement with Meath County Council. Site visit will be arranged as per government and public health advise. Meath County Council estimate construction costs for this project to be circa €650,000 ex VAT Please note this figure is only a guide and each individual tenderer will have to work on their own cost estimates for their specific design proposal.
