Tender description

The student health and wellbeing service at Newcastle University provides information, advice and guidance on a wide range of student support issues to enable all students to maximise their potential whilst at University. The service also provides some specialist in-house support to students with specific learning difficulties, autism spectrum disorder and mental health issues. In the academic year 2018-19 over 45 students accessed non-medical helper support funded by the University. Of the students who were provided with non-medical help support, over 4 800 hours of support was delivered to enable access to learning. This was split between 1 300 hours (Study Assistants) and 3 500 (Support Assistants). This will be a blended study assistant role that includes practical and mobility support, note taking (manual and typed), examination support with reader and/or scribe, laboratory support and study assistant. This will be a blended support assistant role to work with students with mobility difficulties and those who may arrive at university with personal care requirements. Suppliers must be registered with the care quality commission.
