Tender description

United Utilities Water Plc provides drinking water to homes and businesses across North West England. We serve over 7 million customers, providing a reliable supply of over 1 700 million litres of great quality clean water, every day. We are seeking commercial partners to strengthen the resilience of our network by providing additional water resources. United Utilities Water Plc seeks bids to supply water our network. We invite applications from the owners of existing sources of water, particularly those organisations which have the capability to supply over 1 million litres per day, and who have (or are applying for) an Abstraction Licence issued by the Environment Agency or relevant regulator. This procurement relates to 3rd party entities supplying water to United Utilities Water. The water supplied may be treated or pre-treatment (raw water). We will require details of the cost of the water supply, along with additional technical details that will enable us to appropriately asses any bid. The safety and reliability of any water that we supply to customers is absolutely paramount, and the technical details requested will enable us to carry out the necessary assurance that applies to water supplied to customers. The details that we will seek include: • name of applicant/business name; • location of the source (easting/northing and elevation in metres above ordnance datum); • map showing the location, including showing the boundary line of the applicants’ property; • description of the source (e.g. groundwater, river water, desalination, reservoir etc); • if the applicant has an existing abstraction licence, please state the licenced volume and provide a copy of the complete licence. If the applicant has an abstraction authorisation provided through an Act of Parliament, then please provide a copy of the complete Act of Parliament; • please provide all available records of water quality from the source. These should include all available determinants, but particularly should include records of levels of: — turbidity expressed as Nephelometric Turbidity Units (NTU), — colour, — acidity (pH), — metals, — Ooganic compounds (including overall dissolved organic carbon), — nitrates/nitrites, — phosphate, — coliforms (e.g. cryptosporidium/E Coli/Enterococci), — pesticides (e.g. metaldehyde), — radionuclides, — products of algae and cyanobacteria (e.g. 2 methylisobutanol, geosmin, chlorophyll). • Please provide all available records of the actual yield achieved from the source, expressed as megalitres per day. Please provide records of daily yield where available; • Please indicate the applicants proposed access point, where the resource will be connected into the United Utilities network; • Please indicate when the source would be available for use, both when it could be made available for use by the applicant, and any time constraints on its availability (e.g. if the bid is time limited).
