Tender description

As a part of a planned sourcing activity for the provision of an automated robotics solution for library preparation, Public Health England (PHE) are organising Supplier Engagement Events. During these events, suppliers will be asked to provide a proposed workflow using their product(s) and give a short presentation about this solution. The Central Sequencing Laboratory (CSL) – National Infection Service (NIS), Colindale provides a centralised service for next generation sequencing using Illumina sequencing technology. Genomic and plasmid DNA or PCR amplicon are prepared for sequencing using automated robotics which perform library preparation according to manufacturer’s specifications. PHE is planning to procure a robotic solution that must have a proven history of being used for the production of DNA libraries for NGS application. It must be flexible and adaptable to allow protocol development and any unit methodology change. It must provide a number of functions that may include but are not limited to the following: 96/384 welled plate pipetting, thermal cycling, magnetised bead clean-up, span-8 pipetting, on-deck microplate shaker, compatible with CSLs LIMS. A more detailed overview of the workflow will be provided to interested participants. This supplier engagement events are organised with a view to providing PHE with insights which will inform the specifications. The events will also be used to alert the market to the upcoming opportunity.
