Tender description
The primary objective of the Sustainable Food Systems programme is to give learners the essential knowledge and skills to become sustainable champions within their organisation. Learners will develop an understanding of sustainable food policies, what best practice looks like and how to apply systems thinking to their own business. The course should ensure that learners can effectively identify sustainable solutions to real-life challenges in the food sector. Background to the programme: For manufacturers and processors of food and drink products, the area of sustainability is firmly a top agenda item. The vast majority of companies have resources who have specific responsibility for sustainability within their businesses. While these people have a wide range of experience and education with backgrounds in food science, food engineering, supply chain, many do not have a formal qualification in the area of sustainability for the food and drink sector. Requirement: To deliver a tailored Sustainability programme that ensures participants not only develop key knowledge in relation to Food Sustainability but also develop the skills on how to understand and use their judgement appropriately in implementing food systems within their own businesses. Course: The course will be aimed at people working in the food industry who have a responsibility in food sustainability. Learners on this course should gain a good knowledge of the landscape of food sustainability on a local, European and global level. Learning methodology: Combination of lectures, working groups, projects and reading. Duration: Sufficient to allow learning outcomes and certification to be achieved, ideally over a 1 to 2 semester period. Certification: Minimum of level 8
