The boilers used on NGN sites are commercial boilers (similar to a domestic boiler, but with a larger capacity). The boilers installed between the mid 90’s to mid 2000’s were aluminium boilers with an aluminium heat exchanger internally. The main issue currently faced with these boilers is the heat exchanger. There are 10 sites which are obsolete with limited spares available, NGN identified the optimal work required to make the sites fit for purpose. None of the identified sites require a full re-build of the Pre-heating system, all will be a refurbishment of differing levels. The boilers used on NGN sites are commercial boilers (similar to a domestic boiler, but with a larger capacity). Depending on the site requirements the number of boilers can range from as little two boilers up to as many as 20 individual boilers. NGN began installing boiler packages on site in the mid to late 90’s. Many of the older sites have/are being rectified and upgraded as part of major site works. There are now a number of sites where we are experiencing faults, are obsolete, and unmaintainable. The heat exchangers become clogged and ineffective, causing the boiler to stop functioning, this is identified by checking the differential pressure across the piece of equipment. These heat exchangers are very difficult to repair/clean and maintain.
