Pulse is an integrated set of application components which covers the whole blood component lifecycle, from a donor registering to a pack being issued. Pulse is also the system used by NHSBT Tissues Services for the management of the Tissue Bank. The Pulse set of applications supports the collection, processing and distribution of blood and blood components. It is critical to running the NHSBT business. Separate instances of the Pulse application are also used by the Isle of Man, Northern Ireland and Jersey. The failure of Pulse for even a short period would significantly impact NHSBT’s ability to meet the demand from hospitals and the patients they serve. NHSBT own the IPR for Pulse but the system is supported, developed and maintained by a managed service supplier. The requirement of this tender is for the ongoing provision of support, development and maintenance of these services.
