Fermoy South East & South West Drainage Schemes - Pumping Stations Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Contract

The Munster Blackwater River Fermoy North and Fermoy South East & South West Drainage Schemes are designed to provide flood protection measures to the town of Fermoy, Co. Cork from flooding of the River Blackwater on both sides of the river. The town is protected from flooding by a combination of works which include permanent flood walls, demountable flood walls, embankments and pumping stations along both sides of the banks of the Blackwater River. On the South side, four new pumping stations have been installed behind the line of the flood defences to discharge surface and pump foul water during high water conditions in the river. These pumping stations are only generally required to operate during high rainfall, high rivers and flood conditions. Although these pumping stations are designed to operate automatically when required as part of their Operation, they require personnel on standby to receive and react to any alarms or issues that arise. In addition, routine Maintenance is required to make sure they are in optimum condition when called into action. This Contract provides for the Operation and Maintenance of these pumping stations, generators, control systems and ancillary equipment.
