The Health Research Board (HRB) is a state agency that supports research and provides evidence to prevent illness, improve health and transform patient care. The HRB has 61 staff. Our annual budget is in excess of €45m and we manage a research investment portfolio of approximately €200m. The agency is funded mainly by the Department of Health, and Board members are appointed by the Minister for Health. • Provide a specialist copy-editing and proof reading service for the HRB to be accessed as required across the period of the contract. This will, in the main, involve phone and email consultations, but also one-to-one meetings for bigger jobs which require additional summaries or extensive copy-editing. • Advise on the redevelopment of the HRB house style • Create lay summaries of some of the publications edited • Provide a mentoring services to advance the writing skills of HRB staff to ensure their work is more readable and reduce level of edits or corrections required.
