Tender description

Due to the pandemic situation NHSBT agreed with all current suppliers and bidders (as identified during tender exercise) that the current supply of Lot 3 (VH Bio and Immucor) in NHSBT0765 to extend this existing agreement beyond 30 April 2020 by 10 months (to 28 February 2021). Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) typing and antibody (detection and definition) are performed to ensure compatibility between donors and recipients of HLA selected platelets, haematopoietic stem cells for transplantation and solid organtransplantation (renal, liver and cardiothoracic). Building on our strengths as a national provider, NHSBT’s strategic aim is for it’s H&I services to become the preferred provider and supplier of choice for H&I related services in NHS England. NHSBT requirement is to perform HLA typing and antibody detection and definition in an efficient, timely and cost effective manner to meet the demands and expectations of our customers and the patients we serve. Covid-19 pandemic is a novel, unprecedented situation that NHSBT could not have forseen at the time it awarded the contract. H&I department is unable to continue with evaluation/validation stage due to staff being diverted by urgent actions to deal with Covid-19 consequences, staff being redeployed as well as unability to continue with validations due to current restrictions and lockdown. Due to the pandemic situation NHSBT agreed with all current suppliers and bidders (as identified during tender exercise) that the current supply of Lot 3 (VH Bio and Immucor) in NHSBT0765 to extend this existing agreement beyond 30 April 2020 by 10 months (to 28 February 2021). Total value of increase in price does not exceed 50 % of the value of the original framework agreement. The nature of contract has not been changed.
