UKRI Science and Technology Facilities Council have a requirement for a contractor to carry out a geotechnical investigation and site survey at Boulby Underground Laboratory. The initial service includes the drilling and taking of agreed rock samples. The additional service comprises the carrying out of the full geotechnical investigation. The initial service includes the drilling and taking of agreed rock samples and initial ground works set up. The additional service comprises the carrying out of a full geotechnical investigation (including without limitation testing, analysis and reporting) of the suitability of rock strata for the excavation of cavities and tunnels to safely accommodate the installation and operation of new underground scientific research assets (including the AIT-WATCHMAN detector, laboratory, water treatment plant and supporting infrastructure) (the ‘Project’) at a depth of approximately 1,1 km below surface level at Boulby Mine.
