Tender description

Essex County Council (‘the Council’) is seeking to secure suitable provision of housing related support services to the following cohorts of people: (a) adults with learning disabilities (LD); (b) adults with an acquired brain injury (ABI). The overarching objective of these services is to deliver low-level support to individuals with a physical or learning disability. These services provide early intervention support which helps people maximise their independence and recover from injury or learn new skills. The schemes are designed to reduce an individual’s needs and therefore reduce the need for more intensive and expensive ongoing social care funded services. This lot is designed to secure suitable provision of specialist support for adults recovering from acquired brain injuries (ABI). This service will include the provision of support to aid an individual's recovery and enable them to relearn social and daily living skills and develop social networks to help them live an independent life and handle the impact of their brain injury. Candidates are advised that this scheme will encompass a move-on ethos which aims to support people in to general needs accommodation. Candidates are advised that the incumbent provision for this lot currently supports 20 individuals within 2 separate schemes; 1 in Colchester and a further provision in Castle Point. Please note that the current recipients of this service hold tenancies which will endure for up to 2 years from their point of entry into the service and the scope of the specification for this lot only covers the commissioning of the support services; not the provision of accommodation. This lot is designed to secure suitable provision of tailored housing related support to adults aged 18-65 with learning disabilities to develop their daily skills, enabling them to live as independently as possible. The overarching aim of this service is to support people to develop the skills and confidence to move into their own accommodation. Candidates are advised that the incumbent provision for this lot currently supports 8 individuals within a specific site in Writtle Road, Chelmsford. Please note that the current recipients of the service hold tenancies for this accommodation which will endure for up to 2 years from their point of entry into the service. In addition, please be advised that the scope of the specification for this lot and the stated budget for this scheme only covers the commissioning of the support services; not the provision of accommodation.
