EPA - LEE749C RFT for the Supply of a High Purity Germanium Gamma Spectrometry Detector

Tender description

This call for tender relates to the purchase of a high purity germanium detector designed to work in a low background passive shield, for the determination of radioactivity based on measurement of gamma emissions in the range 40keV to 2 MeV from environmental samples in marinelli and planar sample geometries. Tenders will be evaluated on both the basic fulfilment of a requirement, and accompanying justification for each presented solution. A new Gamma Spectrometry system will be purchased and loaned to Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) under a new SLA to provide additional laboratory support to the EPA’s radiation lab under the National Emergency Plan for Nuclear Accidents (NEPNA). The chosen model will enable the establishment of a low background gamma spectrometry setup consistent with the efficient implementation of modern standards and recommendations for radiological monitoring.
