Tender description

Wiltshire Council has a duty to provide quality accommodation and support to vulnerable young people, including 16- and 17-year olds who are assessed as being Children in Need and those who Leave Care, up to the age of 25. Accommodation and Support can be sourced through Wiltshire’s participation in a Regional Framework, but by virtue of its regional nature, local placement choices can be limited - especially for young people with higher levels of need. A block contract is in place with a local provider, which has enabled closer partnership working, clearer lines of communication and more robust outcome monitoring - as well as reducing associated costs. It is our intention to develop a partnership of Providers offering a mixed model of accommodation and support, who can learn from and challenge each other to deliver a high-quality, consistent experience for young people. This approach will be taken alongside our commitment to the South West Regional Framework, which will continue to be used to source bespoke and/or out of county placements where needed. Our aim is to increase the availability of quality homes for young people within 20 miles of Wiltshire communities, as well as further improving the long-term outcomes for the target cohort. This contract must also deliver cost savings for the Local Authority by better sharing risk and reward. Keywords: Leaving Care
