Tender description
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is seeking to appoint a competent supplier to design, develop and deliver a comprehensive Irish Traveller Culture Programme in the area of Sports Heritage across the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area. The programme will comprise of 2 projects involving workshop-based learning and site visits. The overall aim of the programme is as follows: • Promotion of the Irish Travelling Community’s culture in order to address existing myths, stereotypes and negative attitudes; • Facilitation of meaningful engagement between the Irish Travelling community and settled communities; • Building the capacity of Irish Traveller community; • Enhancing cultural understanding between communities. The successful supplier will be required to: • Recruit participants to the programme both from the Irish Traveller and settled communities both CNR & PUL. • Design and deliver 2 projects in the areas of Sports Heritage integrating groups from the two dominant indigenous communities (CRN and PUL) with the Irish Traveller Community with minimum 12 participants for each project. • The programme will create opportunities for sustained & meaningful contact between Travellers and groups from different backgrounds. • A minimum of 26 hours (total) of meaningful cross-community engagement must be provided per participant. • Cross-community balance: The supplier must ensure that significant pro-active effort is made to maintain adequate cross-community balance on the project. 40% CNR / 30% PUL / 30% BME with a maximum differential of 20% allowable on CNR/PUL identities. (CNR = Catholic / Nationalist / Republican; PUL = Protestant / Unionist / Loyalist; BME = Black and Minority Ethnic / Other) • Deliver all promotional activities related to the recruitment of participants and delivery of the programme.
