Tender description

Southampton City Council would like to commission play and youth services for the city. The services sought through this contract will work together to create a coherent city-wide play and youth offer that helps ensure all Southampton children and young people get a good start in life. The service is separated into five lots, split between play and youth. Service providers may bid for one lot or multiple lots. Service providers shall individually provide and/or facilitate through subcontracting and/or other partnership arrangements with other suitable play and youth organisations, a comprehensive play and youth offer for children and families in the city. Community setting based, open access, supervised and facilitated play activities for children and young people aged 0-14 years old, during school holidays and after school. The service will enable children and young people to enjoy a range of positive, safe, high quality, inclusive play experiences that build friendships, strengthen family interaction and are accessible near to where they live. It is intended this service will be run through a single contract. Community based service to facilitate access to toy and game based play in home and community settings, for children and young people aged 0-14 years old. The service will enable children and young people to enjoy access to toys and games that they can play with themselves, with other children and with adults, either at home and/or in community based settings. It is intended this service will be run through a single contract. Community based service to provide a minimum of two parenting support sessions per week for parents who are working to cope through challenging social, economic, domestic and/or other challenging circumstances. During parenting sessions supervised play sessions will be provided for children in their care, including crèche facilities for pre-school age children and childcare provision for older children where possible. It is intended this service will be run through a single contract. Delivery of area based open access youth provision and diversionary activities for children and young people in communities who face disadvantage and/or difficulties in accessing safe, fun, positive activities with adults they can trust in a space that is welcoming to them. Services will be provided in the East, Central and West localities. It is intended that services will be run under a single contract per locality. Service providers may run services in one or more areas either individually or in partnership with other providers. Delivery of youth projects and activities that are thematic or interest based in terms of activity (as opposed to the place that they happen in), and which therefore run across multiple areas, either enriching or complementing existing area based community youth offers and activities, or running across different sites independently of such provision. It is intended to offer up to two (2) contracts for different theme/interest based activities. A wide range of activities might be considered eligible for support under this lot: sport based provision and clubs, music, dance and/or performing arts, culture and heritage linked activities, gaming and/or other shared specific interests. It is intended to award several contracts for this service, covering different interests.
