Tender description

Introduction Glasgow Subway currently operates an Airwave secure radio communication system that facilitates all day to day operational communications within its infrastructure and also allows SPT to communicate with the emergency services via the secure ESN communication network, in times of emergency. In addition to SPT’s internal operational communications, the current radio system also allows the emergency services to independently communicate within the Subway sub-surface system. Negotiation — continuity of the Airwave Radio service must be maintained until the roll out of the new national ESN service being provided by the Home Office. As this service is provided by a sole supplier then a negotiated approach was necessary.
